Wow, it was a fun day on Thursday. For the activities we had to build a christmas tree that look perfect. After making our christmas tree, we had to, go up and surround the tree. Once we got up, and stood around the tree we sang a christmas song. After having a awesome time, I really Enjoyed myself.

Manaiakalani Film Festival

Film Festival

Yesterday, 14th of November, all nine school around Glen Innes And Panmure like Pt England Primary and Intermediate, Glenbrae Primary, Glen Innes, St Pius, St Patrick, Tamaki Primary, Tamaki Intermediate, Panmure Bridge and Tamaki College all went to the Manaiakalani Film Festival at Sylvia Park Hoyts Movies.

We all went inside quiet. Finding where we are sitting Britney was beside me and asked “I wonder what movies we are going to watch?”. As I was relaxing and watching the movies, at the same time I enjoyed my self. But then we had to leave. Then we got out of the cinema as fast as we could so more of Tamaki college student could come in and enjoy themselves. Off we are on the bus heading back to school.  

Later on at 5:30pm Turuhira picked me from my house. When she picked me up, we went to the Train Station and headed back to Sylvia Park. We got there and sauntered into the theatre and took our seats. As we were sitting and  a man came up on the stage and made Turuhira and me comfortable. After that the Manaiakalani Film Festival  started. Watching the film festival is really AWESOME.

My favourite film was the St Pius (Happy) Clip. Why? Because listening to them singing really made me HAPPY.

What A Disaster!!!

Alice went to go and get some groceries at the vege shop. “MMM brussel sprout will be nice for our dinner”, said Alice. Alice put away her shopping in the car. Then she drove off and went back home. When she went home her mum said “We need to save some money for our road trip”. So Alice’s mum took the brussel sprout out and started to cook our dinner.When mum put the food on the table, I had a little sip and it tasted really yuck. The brussel sprouts was expired and I felt really sick. So I told my mum “I think I got food poisoned”  said Alice. So the road trip was canceled, WHAT A DISASTER!!!!!!

Plastic Bags

During class Trent got sent out, because he ignored Miss Anderson. He is trying to tell her that he didn’t hear her. The reason why Trent got sent out of class, is because he was telling Jason that he woke up and his dog was dead.

Dog Attack (PicLits)

My cousin and I was walking through the park. As we were walking, a dog stormed out of know where,then it started to chase after us. We ran as fast as we could, to get help, but we were not fast enough. We may of ran to a place where the dog could get us, the dog court us, it was coming closer and closer to us, I ran and left my cousin their. When I left my cousin, I got a call late last night saying she was in hospital, she stayed in hospital for 4 weeks.

Spending 4 weeks in hospital was really sad for my cousin. When I went to go and visit her, she was really upset with me. As she was spending 4 weeks in hospital, she had nothing to do, just lay in her bed and watch T.V. Then it came to the fourth week in hospital she came out.

When my cousin got out of hospital, we both went for a walk through the park again. As we were walking, a dog ran out of know where and started to run after us. We ran as fast as we could to get help, but we were not fast enough. We may of ran to a place where the dog could get us, it came closer and closer to us, my cousin ran away and left me. Poor me spent an awful 4 weeks in hospital.

As I spent four weeks in hospital, I did nothing at all. So then I got out of hospital on the fourth week. Then we both went for a walk through the park again and the both of us spent 4 weeks in hospital. Poor us, we never learn't our lesson.

Stomach Churning

One day me and my family went onto the roller coaster at rainbow ends.


As soon as we went onto the roller coaster, it went so fast that i fell out and poor family was sad.


The roller coaster stopped. Then mum called someone over to help me. People came over to see how I was feeling.

After having a dumb week in hospital, we went back to rainbow ends and had a lovely day.

Mount Tongariro

Mount Tongariro is a  volcano in the Taupo 

Volcanic Zone of the North Island of New Zealand. A volcano Mount Tongariro,  in New Zealand the North Island, erupted for  the first time in 115 years. Creating an ash cloud closed roads and before moving off the coast, disrupted regional air travel.

The eruption was reported by a member of the public. New Zealand scientists are monitoring the event.The scientists said that it  was driven by the steam rather than magma. It can’t rule out further explosions.   

Volcano Erupts

Did you know that a volcano in Guatemala erupted. After this massive volcano eruption over 10,000 people were forced to evacuate  from their homes . It happened late last week  on friday the 20th of september 2012. People living nearby said that the roaring of the volcano was so loud that it was shaking their windows. 

After an ash cloud started to spread miles around all air travel in the area was cancelled by Friday morning. Lava had already been blasted over four miles away from Fuego's crater.

 It's the largest eruption in the country since 1999. It happened because the volcano was spewing ash and lava out of its crater. Click this link below and it will show you some more information about Guatemala Volcano.

Danger Of Smoking

Smoking is a cause of death. Why? The chemicals in the cigarettes  causes disease in your body. 

Smoking can contain danger to teenagers and other people. The danger of smoking is that tobacco can cause damage to your brain, make you have lung cancer and a heart disease.

Likely adults who smoke will die sooner., especially if they started as teenagers. Your chances of getting heart disease and strokes is more likely to happen 2 to 13 times.

What I have shown is that what tobacco can do to people's bodies and what is likely to happen. Thank you Chanel for checking my work.

SMOKING, IS NOT OUR FUTURE 

On Friday the 17th of August Pt England ran cross country. It was an awesome experience for me because I knew that I was going to do much better than before. The starting point was on the Pt England Field. At the starting point I was nervous and worried at the same time. When Mr Burt Said “ On your marks, Get set GO” I ran as fast as I could.

Running around the corner was this big blob of mud. As I was running towards the reserve I had Mud all up my legs. Then as I hit the track on the reserve I was pacing myself. Then I got further and further. As I pass Chante I got catched up to Turuhira, then I knew that I was coming third place.

Coming up to the finish line people were cheering me on. Then I cross the finish line. I was so proud of myself for coming third place. That was My awesome Experience.  Thank You Dakota for helping me out with my Writing.

The London Games

The London olympics is finished now. So in our class we have been back from a wonderful weekend and came to school to write about the Closing Ceremony.

But before the olympics closed, I watched the BMX race on prime. Sarah Walker is a BMX racer champion. During the Olympics game on Saturday the 11 of August 6:03 she won a silver medal by coming second place.

Sarah Walker is a BMX racer who was born in Whakatane, New Zealand, and lives in Kawerau, New Zealand. She started BMX in 1999 when she saw her brother, Matt, riding one day.

But she could do better by achieving a Gold Medal. Practice, Practice, Practice, Makes Perfect.

My Gold Medal.

This is a little summary of how I earned my gold medal. This is an Gold Medal that I got for working hard. I also accomplished my work and finished it off properly. This is the gold medal that I earned from doing my work.

Nature or Nurture

I believe that, Good athletes are born that way. Why? because they would achieve more and do hard work for example, Eating healthy, drinking plenty of water,having lots of sleep, will strive to succeed to reach for their goal and also believe in yourself. But people that were not born to be an athlete they would of tried to be a competitor in the olympics.


I think that, Hard work and willpower will bring success in sports. Athletes that are competing in the London olympics 2012 they all have confidence, speed to not give up and keep on trying until you win. They work hard to accomplish more teamwork and with strength.


I believe Both natural ability and hard work are important to an athlete. You desire and have strength to compete in olympics. You may have to practice until you have got what you wanted. But in the future I am going to try and reach my goal. And Practice running.

Nadia Comaneci

Nadia Comaneci competed in the olympics in Montreal in 1976 at the age of 14. She became the youngest-ever Olympic medalist in history.

It was the first time in history of the modern Olympics. Nadia obtained seven perfect 10’s on the uneven bars.

On the scoreboard they did not have enough space to show a 10, but the score appeared as 1.00. It shows that One can strive for perfection.

In the future I wish that I could be I Gymnastics Girl.

Going For Gold

Going For Gold is our topic this term and in room 19 we are wondering how we can go for gold.

Striving to succeed is the main key and also trying to do your best . To achieve a gold medal, you have to  believe in yourself and never give up. Taking charge and doing your best is achieving more and going for gold, but if you're being  lazy and not being part of the team, you're not going for gold.

If you are in any kind of sports, you should turn up to every training and  if you can't make it, then make sure you let your coach know. We can go for gold by listening to our coach and turning up on time with the right gear. Remember, Right Place, Right Time and Right Attitude.  

Valerie Adams

Valerie Adams inspires me by the she is good at shot put. One day I would like to be like her because seeing her on the news during the olympics, she made me think that one day I would win a gold medal like her.

At the end of 2011 Valerie Adams had won three world titles, at the olympic games held in london. By winning and getting medals, I think that she would of practice and practice until she got better and better.

Valerie Adams was born in Rotorua New Zealand, to a tongan mother (Lilika Ngauamo) and an English father (Sydney Adams). When she was in a relationship with Kirsten Hellier they broke-up. After a few years later Kirsten Hellier was Valerie Adams Adviser coach.

In the future I would like to achieve more in my athletics, like
( Shot-Put, 100 meter sprint, High Jump, Discus and many more). Thanks to Chanel.

Report - Wing Suit

Did you know that a skydiver named Gary Connery jumped out of a helicopter without using a parachute and landed safely. Gary Connery is a 42-year-old that has completed the stunt wearing a specially developed wing suit. It happen on the 23rd of may 2012 at Henley-On-Thames.

Gary Connery did it to get a world record for being the first person to jump from a such hight without a parachute. He flew 1.4km through the air for about 50 seconds and landed safely in 18 thousand and 6 hundred boxes.

But in the future I wish I could jump out of a helicopter or a plane without using a parachute.

When Is The Right Time To Swear?

The right time to swear is never because if you swear around police you may get charged. But if you don’t swear nothing bad would happen to you. But if you want to swear and say it out loud I think it would be goo to just to keep it in your head.

We all know that swearing is bad. Swearing in Public would be a matter to people. Swearing can also cause a fight. Like if someone bumped into you by an accident, the person that got bump would probably get angry and go all psycho. They would swear, yell, and hit. But I think that Swearing and hitting would be violence. So I think they should stop and never swear at all.

I think they should ban the swearing around here because it is bad and it's legal.
For those people that want to swear, I think just keep in your head, and don't say it out loud or in public.

Friendship.

Hi my name is Tauwhare. I have 11 best friends so close to me. Their names are Andrea, Britney, Chelsea, Dakota,` Dante, Helen, Rozella, Taeshell, Te Rina, Turuhira and Zion. We will chat to each other, play around do lots thing like Eat lunch together, have joke when it comes to something funny. But when it comes to secrets we never tell anyone especially friends, because sometimes they can spread rumors from their mouths.

At morning tea and lunch we will sit down relax and eat. When we are on the playground we will play tigging or ball tiggy. Tiggy is a game that we all enjoy. We would laugh a lot and enjoy the day. Tiggy is the most valuable thing we will play. Most likely every day we will go to the playground and play.

In class we will sit together, sometimes read together and sometimes write together. Me and my friends will sometimes get carried away with thing. Friends are what we are made of. Like Andrea, Britney, Chelsea, Dakota,` Dante, Helen, Rozella, Taeshell, Te Rina, Turuhira and Zion. Thanks for reading  my writing about Friendship. I hope you enjoyed it!

Tropical Splendor

This term we are learning about art. In Room 19 we have been painting and learning about lines. They create boundaries and define shapes. It’s taking us time to learn how to do really light, thin lines.
We have been practicing drawing, sketching and painting, by using colours, mixing and layering in our art.

Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Matisse and a New Zealand artist Danielle Hulme.
Last week there was a rotation with the year 7 and 8 intermediate classes. Our first rotation was room 20, in room 20 we learnt  about Danielle Hulme. Miss Squires Showed us how good Danielle Hulme was at her art. But mainly in all of her paintings there's something to do with Island Patterns. Like the beach in one of her paintings and with the flowers added. In one of her cool paintings there was a lady wearing a dress that includes flowers. But I think in all of her paintings is about her husband’s culture (Samoan).

Painting a flower of Danielle Hulme is called Tropical Splendor. A Tropical Splendor is what room 19 painted. As I was getting started I had to sketch the flower before I painted. But then I managed to get to the point where I could paint. I enjoyed the day with Miss Squires. Thank you Miss Squires for a lovely day. Thank you Naomi

Arizona

We have been reading about the swimmer from Norway who died recently at a training camp in Arizona.
Our group was asked research about Arizona. This is what we found;

The capital is Phoenix. 
The population of the state is six million, four hundred and eighty two thousand, five hundred and five.

On friday morning I woke up with a nice bright smile. Walking on the way to school I stop into the shops and brought, Doritos Chips, Caramelo Chocolate, keri juice and Cravers crackers.

On the way to the beach Andrea, Te Rina, Rosella and I where talking but when we got to the beach we had to line up and get into our room lines. As soon as we got into our room lines we sat down for a while, but after a while we got up and took our tarpaulin and found us a good spot.

Then after setting up our gear, I found Andrea, Rosella and Te Rina so then we went down on the beach, put our bags on the rocks, sat down and had something to eat. After that all four of us took off our shoes and went to play in the sand. When we were walking on the sand I walked back to have some Chocolate.

But after having a awesome time at the beach I really enjoyed the day.

Net Ball

Waiting for Mr Harris to say it's time to pack up and get ready for Net Ball.

As soon as room 19 got to the net-ball courts, I said to myself I just want to get straight into the game. Standing there was a lady named Liz. Before got into learning skills Liz introduces her-self and said that she was a coach from the AMI courts. Then she told us to get in to group. After that we learnt all the skill she tort us then we had a game of net ball. After a while it was morning tea time.

We all worked as a team and Participated in the game.

Health+Me=?

This term we are learning about statistics.

As part of our learning we are examining data related to our health.

The first part of our examination we collected data (information) about the food we ate for one week (2/2 to 9/2). The graph (or chart) shows how much I ate from six major food groups.

The Treaty Of Waitangi

The treaty of waitangi was first signed 6 february 1840 by representatives of british crown and various maori chiefs from the north Island of New Zealand. The treaty is tablished a british gavernor of New Zealand,recognised maori ownership of their lands and other properties and gave the maori the right of british subjects.

My Holidays

In the holidays we went to the beach with shontal. On the way to the Pt England beach shontal and I stopped at the shop and got some lolls and a drink with our money. Then we got to the beach. As we got there we got changed and jumped in the water. When we were swimming shontal and I were jumping of the rocks. Then later on the water got colder and colder so shontal and I thought that we should get out. So we did that, and got changed then went home.
