Takapuna Beach

On Monday I went to Takapuna beach. Beforehand, my cousin and I had made ourselves some lunch for Dad, Aunty, Brodie, Uncle and ourselves. On the way to the beach we stopped off at the gas station in Glen Innes to fill up. As soon as we arrived at the beach, the first thing I did was to jump in the water. My cousin and I had lots of fun swimming and playing in the sand. What a great day!

Swimming with Chris

“Ooh this is freezing cold!” I said to myself, as I squeezed on my life-jacket. I adjusted my belt and buckled up my life jacket. “Time to get in the pool!” Chris yelled loudly. Chris works for water safety NZ, He’s here to help us learn about water safety until the end of the term. As I hopped into the pool I was shivering and shaking. As I was shivering Room15 were asked to get in to the help position. When we got into that position we all had to get in a huddle and then we broke into song, singing the National Anthem.

Net Book

Net books
Finally the year 7s got their net books on Tuesday. They are really excited that they have them. I asked my cousin in Room 20, named Shontal, if she was happy with her new net book, and she exclaimed “ Yes I really like my net book!” Its good for the year 7s because they don’t need to wait for school time, they can just do there own work at home or anywhere for that matter. Instead of working at school they can do work at there aunty's and uncle’s house. When they want to chat they can, and you don’t need to have stationery and they can do there own homework on line.

Nana's Buddy's 75th Birthday

On Saturday it was Nana Buddy’s birthday down in Kawakawa bay. As the sun was rising, everybody was putting up decorations, baking the cake and making the food. We were getting ready to surprise Nana Buddy at 2pm. Before her arrival the food was set out nicely under the tarpaulin on the deck. Green streamers and pink and white balloons decorated the corners of the room while we waited for our main guest. When she finally came in, she loved what we had done and she thanked everyone for what we had done for her birthday. This day reminded me of my birthday, especially when Nana Buddy blew out her candles and making a wish. I hope Nana Buddy had a great time. My favourite part of the day was eating the cake! YUM!

Animal Kingdom

Scientists classify the animal kingdom into different categories. The two main categories are vertebrates and invertebrates. Vertebrates are animals that have a backbone, There are five different groups of vertebrates; birds, fish, mammals, amphibians and reptiles.
Invertebrates are an animal which has no backbone. 97% of the animal kingdom comprised of 7 groups. Three of these groups are arthropods (which have exoskeleton). Humans are mammals like animals because humans feed milk and mammals feed milk as well. Types of invertebrates include annelida (segmented body and jointed legs) such as worms ,and molluses (soft bodied invertebrates such as snails and slugs).

JESSICS WATSON

Last term we were learning about Mighty Mariners. My mariner was Jessica Watson. She sailed around the world non stopped.

Immersion Assembly

As I walked into the hall there were lots of teachers dressed up in crazy costumes,waiting for the Immersion Assembly to start. An Immersion Assembly is wen we find out about the new term. An our topic for this term is called Little Critters.First up was team1.Their one was about Little Miss Muffet, Incy Wincy Spider and Spider Man. Miss Wild, as Little Miss Muffet, was so funny when she was sitting down on her tuffet because along came a spider and gave her a fright. She went running off scramming away. Then she did it again. But it was lowder when they did it the second time. Team 5 also was funny because they were slugs. Their item was so short because they were just crawling across the stage with sleeping bags overing them with googly eyes on them is well.

Suddenly my favorite item was called up team 4 a bee colonies. Mr Barks was the queen bee and the other bees were cleaning,feeding and cooling him. Mr Barks had a crown and white curly hair.

Christchurch Earthquake

At 4.35 am Saturday morning an earthquake struck Christchurch. The earthquake measured 7.1 on the Richter Scale. The epicenter was 10km below the earth.

There was extensive damage caused by the earthquake over a large area. The damage made buildings collapsed down. Houses got destroyed in the earthquake with 450 needed to be demolished.

It was a danger time during the earthquake caused lots of danger from the houses falling on cars. The dangerous thing was the glass shattering all around the ground and people’s T.V.s getting smashed. Luckily only 1 person died from the earthquake.

I felt like I was in the earthquake too but I wasn’t. When I watch the news I was thinking that I was the person that had died. Well luckily it was not me that had died.

Baby Shelley's Birthday

Yesterday was baby Shelley’s birthday. She was so exited that it was. As I was leaving school
she said to me that I could come to her birthday and blow out the candles with her. So as we were having her birthday her Nana and Papa came too. Before we ate we sang Happy Birthday to you. Then me and Shelley blew out the candles after we sang.

After that Shelley and her sisters and I played hide and seek. As Chelsea was counting we were all hiding in the same place. So when she said, "Ready or not here I come. “Where is Tauwhare?” we were all laughing and then she said I’m not playing now.

Then we had to go and eat. As we were eating we were laughing because we kept on playing funny games when we were not supposed to. Finally we had the yummy lovely cake with Vanilla ice-cream. At the end I went home.

Blackbeard

Blackbeard was a towering bad pirate who had twisted long hair and a braided beard.
He named his boat the Queen Anne’s Revenge. He was a pirate from 1716 to 1717 and he got killed on 1718. He terrorised the Caribbean seas by raiding ships stealing tobacco, dyes, sugar and gold.

Cross Country Day

Waiting for the race to start on the courts in our age lines, we were feeling excited. First up the 10 year old boys and girls went up to the start line. The boys all ran sprinting off to win the race. As soon as they ran off the 10 year old girls were up and they ran like the boys to win the race as well.

Finally it was my turn to run. As Mr Burt clapped the clappers and all of the 9 year old girls ran off. "Race starts," I said to myself. We all ran bunched up together. In front of me was Serena and I was behind her. As I was running I was puffed because of my burst of speed. I was coming up to the finish line sprinting fast trying to come 1st but I came 4th.

Jelly Tip

My favourite Ice Cream is Jelly Tip. Eating Jelly Tip is tasting and great to eat.
Loving the great Jelly in the Ice Cream. The delicious Ice Cream called Jelly Tip
is the only and lovely Ice Cream I would eat. Jelly Tip my Ice Cream, the best.

Jesse Martin

Jesse Martin was determined to circumnavigate the world with support from his
family. With great difficulty he traveled around the world
on his yacht called the Lionheart. His sailing around was so great and awesome, he said on his movie.

JESSE MARTIN

As Jesse Martin pulled onto the sail his hands were numb. When he pulled the sail it was flapping. His boat had water spraying overboard as it hit the gunnels.
 
On a raining day there was no wind for Jesse Martin to sail. He was so angry that he couldn't
sail because there was no wind.

Immersion Assembly

As I walked in the door I saw teachers dressed up in crazy costumes. It was our Immersion Assembly, where we learn about our topic this term. Room15 was sitting and waiting for Mr Burt to talk about his trip about America and we could see what he had been up to. He told us about his trip because we are learning about travellers and explores.


Team 5 was Jessica Watson she had blond hair a black top that had Aussie written in green on the top. She said she that she traveled around the world on her boat by her self. Jessica Watson was so funny that her voice sounded like a young girl singing. And she said that she
had a solo.

The team I liked was team3. They showed a Muppet movie about a pirate battle and they gave chocolate money and I had one.

After team3 item it was time for team4 item it was about people was dressed up in different Mariners.

Dad's Game

Dad's Game
On a Sunday me,mum,sister,and dad would always go to my dad's game. But before we go we always have to pack a lunch for us at the game. As we left we stopped at my auntie house to pick up my cousin. We left her house and went to the game In Papakura. We got their and it was very packed with lots of cars. So we got out of the truck and walked across to the fields
and we saw my uncle and my cousin sitting down on the chairs just out by the club.
When their was a team on the field they got off and it was my dad's team on now.
My dad's team started with a big kick off. As they started with a big kick off the other team got the ball and ran but the man who had the ball got tackled and one of dad's team members got the ball and ran as fast as he called and got the TRY. It was dad's ball he ran and did a step then ran and he got the try. Dad's team had 4 points and the other team had 0 points. And my dad's team won I was so proud of my dad. THE END.

My Favorite Movie

My favourite movie is called Alvin an the Chipmunks 2. Alvin an the Chipmunks is awesome to watch and I like their voices. Their voices sound like a bird singing in the morning on the trees. Hearing them singing they sound really awesome like Alvin an the Chipmunks. But watching the movie of those funny Alvin an the Chipmunks with the girls in it now is lovely and awesome. I love the movie called Alvin an the Chipmunk 2.

Bob Marley

My favourite singer is called Bob Marley. I like Bob Marley's clips and songs because I really like his voice.
When Bob Marley was born he was born in February 6th 1945 in Jamaican.
And I love Bob Marley's dreadlocks they are really cool.

TAUAWHARES BIRRTHDAY

Last Saturday it was my birthday. I was excited that it was. But I was was wondering what would I get for my presents. My dad did me and my family a hangi for the day. But as some kids and adules came I was wondering what they had for me. My aunty gave me some money and my uncle gave me some money too. Then my sister come and she had for me was
black and purple shoes,a purple jacket,a spotty t-shirt,and some head bans with a happy birthday card. I said "thank you waiata for buying all of that for me". After I said that I went
and had a shower so I would be clean and fresh. Later all of my famile came to my house
and had some of my hangi and we all ate it. But then I had my chocolate cake MEE I said to my self as I ate it was deliaous I said. After my birthday we cleaned up and I said to my mum and dad that was the awesome birthday in my life. FROM TAUWAHRE!!!

Immersion Assembly by Tawhare

As I walked in the door I was amazed by the teachers because they had spectacular costumes on. It was our Immersion Assembly in our school hall for this terms new Topic looking at ACTIVE EARTH. He called up team one to do their item.

Team ones item was about a volcano exploding. Once the volcano exploded Miss Wild had powder in her hand and she coughed the powder out of her hand and pretended that they didn't know that they were in a volcano area. Miss George said they were just camping in a volcano area, but they were acting like they didn't know that they were in a volcanic explosion.
Team one was showed the audience their safety gear including their torch, tent, camp food and water. They threw out chocolates to the kids who they thought we survivors and good listeners.

Once we were listening to them Mr Burt said lets give them a big round of applause. Once we gave them a round of applause they went off the school stage. It was team two's turn for their item. I was surprised that the item wasn't on the school stage. Instead they had a movie about an Earthquake. The movie was interesting. I liked the way they hid under the tables and outside the staffroom too.

Mrs She came up and thanked us for watching their show. It was then time for team three's item about dancing. It was so funny because Miss Walters had orange curls to pretended that it was her real hair. The next moment it was team four's time to get on the stage too. When they came on to the stage they were wearing funny glasses. They had a table to lean on, some party poppers and party sprays too.

Swimming

I was standing on the side of the pool waiting patiently for Miss Garden to say we could start. "Go" said Miss Garden in a big voice. Off number ones went, they all pushed them self to the limit to get on to the other side. The next moment I dived into the pool and pushed myself to the limit to get on to the other side too. With great excitement I reached the end. When I was gliding through the water I was blowing bubbles like a swimming dolphin.

Capture the Flag

On Friday room14/15 played a game called Capture the Flag on the bottom field. Miss King explained the different rules in her classroom so that we knew how to play. Room 14 was the green team and we were the red team.
After that we went outside to play. We lined up to play on opposite sides of the field. When Miss King said "Go," we ran like a herd of animals.
When we played room 15 headed for room 14 and room 14 headed for us. There was lots of running and lots of screaming.
On the first round Login got the flag for the red team so we were the winners for the first round When we won though Miss King changed Oshania and me into the green team.
The green team then got two points but the red team got 5 points.
After that we went to pick up rubbish aaround the field and the playground.
I like playig Capture the Flag. t was so cool because I haven't played it before. If we play again we would be the red team again and Room 14 would be the green team. So if we play again we probably won't win.
